INTERN LIAISON
* Requires 1 year of board experience
The Intern Liaison serves as the bridge between PSA's board and its Winter & Spring interns, guiding interns through a meaningful and growth-oriented experience. You will meet with interns weekly to check on their progress, assign tasks that support their professional, academic, and social development, and deepen their understanding of Psychology and related fields. Beyond mentoring, you will plan board-and-intern hangouts, host one-on-one check-ins with each intern, and ensure open communication between the board and intern cohort. You are required to report regularly to the PSA board about your plan for the internship process, intern progress, and any updates or conflicts, escalating concerns to the President and Vice President as needed. The nature of the internship experience is largely shaped by you and the lessons you want to instill, so it is important to be intentional, thoughtful, and always look at the bigger picture when leading your interns.
TREASURER
The Treasurer manages PSA's finances and ensures the organization remains financially organized throughout the year. Before the academic year begins, you will set up and maintain PSA's bank account, create a comprehensive budget, and establish individual chair budgets each quarter in collaboration with the rest of the board. You are responsible for collecting membership dues, processing timely reimbursements, directly charging the PSA account for transactions over $200, and ensuring a minimum balance of $1,000. You will set up and oversee the PSA membership form and T-shirt order form, and verify paid members. At every board meeting, you will report PSA's current balance and keep the Executive Board informed of all earnings and expenditures. Beyond day-to-day finances, you will collaborate with the President to schedule ring road fundraising dates, plan what will be sold, and host at least one fundraising event per quarter. You are also expected to research and apply for external funding opportunities such as COVP Awards and SAES grants, working alongside the President and Vice President. The Treasurer additionally oversees SOAR budget planning in partnership with Outreach and Social, ensuring PSA maximizes available funding. General familiarity with Google Sheets and organizational software is preferred but not required.
SECRETARY
The Secretary serves to keep members informed and organized. Using MailChimp, you will design and send a weekly newsletter updating members on upcoming activities and important club information, while maintaining and growing PSA's mailing list. You are responsible for creating and managing the PSA calendar so general members always know about meetings, events, and deadlines each quarter. During board meetings, you will take detailed notes and ensure all board members have access to them before and afterward. You will also collect attendance at general meetings to help track member engagement. Beyond communications, the Secretary plays a key logistical role assisting the Treasurer with setting up the PSA membership form and T-shirt order forms, and collaborates closely with the Social Chairs on planning and logistics for PSA's Spring Banquet, including creating and managing the event's invite list. Experience with mass emailing and experience using Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides is expected. Familiarity with Canva or other graphic design tools is a plus, but not required.
COMMUNITY SERVICE CHAIR
The Community Service Chair leads PSA's efforts to give back to the community through meaningful, psychology-related volunteer opportunities. You will plan a minimum of two to three community service events per quarter, ranging from drives and weekend volunteer days to weekday service projects. At the beginning of each general meeting, you will present two community service opportunities to keep members informed and engaged with upcoming ways to give back. A key part of this role involves building and maintaining relationships with external organizations, including the Orangewood Children and Family Center (OCFC), to schedule quarterly service opportunities. You will also be responsible for tracking volunteer hours to document member participation. Because this role requires significant coordination, you must have an open schedule and be comfortable networking through emails, phone calls, and in-person outreach. You will need to collaborate effectively with other board members who are also planning events, managing your time wisely, while encouraging members to stay active and engaged. Above all, this position calls for someone ready to lead by example and step outside their comfort zone.
SOCIAL CHAIR
The Social Chair is responsible for building community within PSA through fun, engaging events that help members form meaningful connections. You will organize ice-breakers for every general meeting and plan at least two social events per quarter, handling everything from researching venues and dates to purchasing food and staying within your budget as set by the Treasurer. You will work closely with the Marketing team and the Secretary to promote events and ensure strong attendance. This role also involves meeting bi-weekly with FamHeads to support PSA's family system and foster deeper member bonds. You will lead your interns, holding weekly meetings to organize upcoming events and encourage creative new ideas. As Social Chair, you are expected to be present and active at all PSA events and board meetings, and to collaborate openly with the rest of the board. During Fall Quarter, you will create a SOAR budget plan for the Spring Banquet and assist with FamHead selection. There will be two board members in this position due to the scope of responsibilities; however, one person will suffice if two qualified candidates are not available.
MARKETING CHAIR
The Marketing Chair is responsible for promoting the organization across campus and online. Your duties include creating digital banners, taking photos at events, and making decorations for gatherings like End-of-Quarter Socials. You will also design PSA's annual T-shirts for both general and board members. On the digital side, you will manage PSA's Instagram, LinkedIn, and Photocircle accounts, and produce quarterly recap videos as well as an annual recap video. Collaboration is essential; you will work with fellow chairs to ensure every event is fully publicized. You should be comfortable with public speaking, particularly when boothing, as you will lead PSA's presence at the Anteater Involvement Fair and Celebrate UCI, two major recruitment opportunities. You will manage a committee to delegate tasks and streamline the marketing process. Time management is critical, as you must be ready to take on spontaneous tasks from fellow board members throughout the year.
WEBMASTER
The Webmaster ensures the website and other online platforms stay current and well-organized. You will maintain all website content (including announcements, slides, photos, and files) and present large amounts of information in a clean, accessible format. Beyond the website, you are responsible for managing PSA's Discord server and LinkTree, and you will coordinate T-shirt distribution to general members. During Fall Quarter, you will assist with PSA's exclusive newsletter and support the Marketing team with additional duties such as managing @psaarchives. You will also lead a Webmaster Intern throughout the school year, guiding their development and delegating tasks as appropriate. Prior experience with web management and Wix is strongly preferred but not required. Strong skills in marketing, writing, communication, and organization are essential for success in this role.
OUTREACH CHAIR
The Outreach Chair connects PSA members with valuable professional opportunities beyond campus. Each week, you will identify two to three research, internship, or job opportunities for students, then present them at the start of every general meeting. At each board meeting, you must be prepared to share what opportunities you've found and consult with the board to ensure they are the best fit for PSA's members. A major responsibility of this role is leading and hosting PSA's Career and Networking Fair (CNF), which includes creating a SOAR budget plan during Fall Quarter and delegating tasks to bring the event together. You will also assist with planning booth events throughout the year. Because this position requires extensive external communication, you must be comfortable speaking over the phone and drafting professional emails. This role offers significant personal growth and the chance to build lasting connections. Strong communication, networking, and leadership skills are essential.
PROJECT COORDINATOR
The Project Coordinator works on PSA's long-term collaborative projects and member engagement programs. Your primary responsibility is to find and build a partnership with an external organization and host general meetings with them. You will manage all aspects of this project, ensuring member participation, tracking, communicating with the external organization, and reporting all updates to the Board. In addition, you will lead PSA's Big and Little Program during the Winter Quarter, fostering mentorship and community among members. During Fall Quarter, you will assist the Social Chairs with FamHead selection to help build PSA's Fam system. Effective communication, leadership, organizational ability, networking savvy, and innovative thinking are all necessary to thrive in this role. There will be two board members in this position due to the scope of responsibilities; however, one person will suffice if two qualified candidates are not available.
