Professor Jacqueline Kim in the UCI School of Medicine is looking for undergrad or post-baccalaureate students who might be interested in joining her Health in Context Lab where they examine Asian Americans' experiences in advanced/metastatic cancer and psychosocial interventions that promote well-being. Candidates must be bilingual in Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese, Tagalog, or Japanese (and English). The Research Assistant (RA) will have the opportunity to engage in research with a cultural and clinical health psychology perspective. RA’s primary responsibilities will be to assist with all aspects of the research process including, but not limited to, literature reviews, data collection preparation, translations of study materials, and transcribing interview data.
What qualities make an excellent research assistant?
Research Assistants must be detail-oriented, conscientious, accountable, and able to communicate verbally and in writing in a timely fashion.
Motivated to learn about research, and the ability to work well with others in the lab and interact with participants and community partners.
Attendance at regular meetings with Dr. Kim and the research team.
Language fluency in Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese), Korean, Vietnamese, Tagalog, or Japanese is strongly preferred.
It will be helpful to know if you have experience with a reference manager, Qualtrics, qualitative/statistical analysis software, and/or website building, but this is not a requirement.
